There are 4 functional and well-equipped cardiac operating theatres and 4 state-of-the-art cardiac Cath Labs. The cardiac department in Ruby Hall Clinic is famous all over India and the world for the success rate of the complex Cardiac Surgeries, Angioplasties that are done here. There is a team of 21 Cardiologists and 14 Cardiac Surgeons. Complex Angioplasties using varieties of stents and devices are also done in large numbers.

The Cardiac Centre also has facilities like Intravascular Ultrasounds, FFR, OCT(Optical Coherence Tomography), Rotablaters, Electrophysiology, Intra-aortic balloon pump, etc. Recently Cardiac Center has been doing a lot of work in ASD/ VSD/ PDA closures non-invasively, where holes in the heart are repaired without open-heart surgery.

The cardiac centre has done more than 100000 angiographies, 90000 angioplasties, and 50000 cardiac surgeries including bypass surgeries. A large number of Pacemakers have also been inserted.

Angiography

Coronary Angiography

Coronary angiography is a test used to find out how much narrowing there is in your arteries. Learn what to expect and when you might get a stent.

What is angiography and how is it done?

Angiography is an imaging test that uses X-rays to view your body’s blood vessels. The X-rays provided by an angiography are called angiograms. This test is used to study narrow, blocked, enlarged, or malformed arteries or veins in many parts of your body, including your brain, heart, abdomen, and legs.

A coronary angiogram is an X-ray of the arteries in the heart. This shows the extent and severity of any heart disease, and can help you to figure out how well your heart is working. With this information, you and your doctor can talk through your treatment options. These may include angioplasty (stents) , bypass graft surgery or medications.

Angioplasty

Coronary angioplasty (AN-jee-o-plas-tee), also called percutaneous coronary intervention, is a procedure used to open clogged heart arteries. Angioplasty involves temporarily inserting and inflating a tiny balloon where your artery is clogged to help widen the artery.

Angioplasty is often combined with the permanent placement of a small wire mesh tube called a stent to help prop the artery open and decrease its chance of narrowing again. Some stents are coated with medication to help keep your artery open (drug-eluting stents), while others are not (bare-metal stents).

Angioplasty can improve symptoms of blocked arteries, such as chest pain and shortness of breath. Angioplasty can also be used during a heart attack to quickly open a blocked artery and reduce the amount of damage to your heart.

Cardiac Surgeries

The cardiac surgery program at Ruby Hall Clinic offers the following treatments and procedures:

Aortic surgery

Surgery to repair or replace aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections.

Aortic valve surgery

Surgery to repair or replace an aortic valve that is not working correctly.

Arrhythmia surgery

A surgical procedure to correct irregular heart rhythms such as atrial fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia.

Congenital heart surgery

Corrective surgery to fix or treat a genetic heart defect.

Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery

A surgical procedure used in which the blocked portion of the coronary artery is bypassed with another piece of blood vessel.

Heart transplant

A surgical option to treat advanced heart failure, a condition that occurs when the heart can’t pump enough oxygenated blood to meet the needs of the body’s organs.

Left ventricular assist device (LVAD)

A mechanical device which aids in the pumping function of the blood.

Left ventricular remodeling/surgical ventricular restoration

A technique that provides the heart with a more normal shape after a heart attack, allowing it to pump blood more efficiently.

Myectomy/myotomy

A surgical treatment option that removes a portion of the enlarged heart wall.

Transmyocardial revascularization (TMR)

A procedure used to relieve severe angina or chest pain in patients who aren’t candidates for bypass surgery or angioplasty.

Valvular surgery

Heart valve surgery used to repair or replace diseased heart valves.

CCU

There are more than 100 beds dedicated to Cardiac diseases, which include state-of-art 36 bedded Coronary Care Unit designed & functioning under veteran cardiologist & founder director Dr. R.B. Gulati at Ruby Hall Clinic.

Heart Transplants

Twenty million people worldwide suffer from heart failure, of which India witnesses two million new cases every year with at least a third of them requiring a heart transplant to survive. A heart transplant is performed when end-stage heart failure or heart injury can’t be treated by any other medical or surgical means. It’s reserved for those individuals with a high risk of dying from heart disease within one or two years.

Adding to its comprehensive list of organ transplants, Ruby Hall Clinic was the first hospital in Pune to have received a license to undertake this procedure. The heart transplant program here has the depth and experience to successfully treat those patients for whom transplant is the answer, as well as the many patients for whom it is not. Our heart transplant team is experienced in evaluating high-risk patients and understands what transplantation can provide.

Based on the evaluation results, the transplant team decides whether or not a heart transplant is appropriate as the best therapeutic option.

The decision to proceed with a heart transplant represents a lifelong commitment to self-care and medical follow-up, so the ultimate decision rests with the patients. Only you can evaluate your quality of life and determine whether or not a heart transplant is worth pursuing.

Paediatric Cardiology

Heart ailments are often thought of as an affliction of the adults. But unfortunately, children too suffer from, for no fault of their own, serious, and even life threatening cardiac conditions. Therefore Managing Trustee Dr. Purvez Grant deemed it necessary that the Ruby Hall Clinic have a dedicated paediatric cardiology unit.

From accurate and timely diagnosis to appropriate and proficient treatment, the paediatric cardiology unit provides end-to-end cardiac care right from 18 weeks of gestation. These include both care and correction for congenital heart diseases like

  • Atrial Septal Defect
  • Ventricular Septal Defect
  • Patent Ductus Arteriosus
  • Fallot’s Tetralogy
  • Congenital valve stenosis
  • Coarctation of the aorta and pulmonary artery
  • Coronary AV fistulas
  • Pulmonary arterio-venous malformations
  • Aortopulmonary collaterals

as well as treatment for acquired cardiac conditions like

  • Rheumatic Heart Disease
  • Myocarditis
  • Cardiomyopathies

Our cardiac catheterization procedures offer treatment of many congenital heart defects without an open heart surgery, that include closure of septal defects, balloon dilatation and stenting.

Our paediatric cardiac care facility also provides the full spectrum of paediatric electrophysiology services including

  • Radiofrequency ablation
  • Transcatheter cryoablation, and
  • Intraoperative cryoablation

Diagnostic Services

Effective treatment is entirely dependent on efficient diagnosis. So, it is only natural that management has laid special emphasis on Ruby Hall’s comprehensive cardiac imaging services. We provide all services including

  • Coronary angiography
  • Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
  • Transthoracic, transoesophageal and intraoperative echocardiography
  • 256 slice CT
  • 2D, 3D, echo, and stress echocardiography
  • Cardiac MRI
  • Vascular Doppler – Artenal and venous
  • Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy
  • EECP
  • Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy
  • PET Scan
